Dr. Sejal Thacker
Dr. Thacker received her dental degree from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine, New York with special recognition for Divisional Excellence in Periodontics. She completed her post-graduate periodontics training alongside a masters in dental sciences at the University of Connecticut in 2012. She has been practicing clinical periodontics in private practice for over ten years.
In addition to private practice, Dr. Thacker serves as the Program Director of the post-graduate program in Periodontics at the University of Connecticut, School of Dental Medicine. She provides lectures and clinical instructions to the periodontal residents and has mentored many students who have gone on to successful practices in Connecticut and beyond. She was recognized as a rising star and future leader by the American Academy of Periodontology in 2018 and has received multiple awards as an educator, namely, “The Outstanding Teaching and Mentoring in Periodontics Award” by the American Academy of Periodontology in 2015 and 2019 and the coveted “Bud and Linda Tarrson Fellowship” in 2020.
Dr. Thacker is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, the American Dental Association, the Academy of Osseointegration and an ITI fellow. In addition, she has served on various committees and task forces at state and national-level dental organizations.
Dr. Thacker has experience in dental research on topics such as periodontal plastic surgery, dental implants, loading and imaging related to implant surgery. She has published her research in peer reviewed journals and lectures extensively on these topics.
In her spare time, Dr. Thacker enjoys spending time with her husband Ajay and her two young children, Krish and Meera. In addition, she is an avid cook and can often be found hiking the countryside of Connecticut.
